I.W.I.-Aktivierung der Insel Lindau (Bodensee) – 13AT/BY011 Am Abend des 1. Juni begann meine Reise zur I.W.I.-Aktivierung der Insel Lindau im Bodensee. Da die Parkmöglichkeiten auf der Insel sehr begrenzt sind und ich mir bereits einen idealen Standort für die Aktivierung ausgesucht hatte, verbrachte ich die erste Nacht auf einem Stellplatz unweit von Lindau. So konnte ich am nächsten Morgen frühzeitig anreisen und mir den gewünschten Parkplatz sichern.
Nach einem gemütlichen Feierabendbier und einem kleinen Snack ging es früh ins Bett. Noch vor Sonnenaufgang machte ich mich auf den Weg – und tatsächlich hatte ich Glück: Der perfekte Parkplatz war frei.
Da die Funkbedingungen in den frühen Morgenstunden noch sehr schwach waren, nutzte ich die Zeit für eine kleine Radtour über die wunderschöne Insel Lindau. Anschließend stärkte ich mich mit einem Frühstück, bevor ich zu meinem Standort zurückkehrte und meinen ersten CQ-Ruf als 13AT/BY011 – Lindau Island startete.
Bis etwa 14 Uhr war ich QRV. Ab Mittag brachen die Ausbreitungsbedingungen jedoch nahezu komplett zusammen. Gleichzeitig zogen dunkle Wolken auf, und ein heftiger Sturm fegte über den Bodensee. An weiteres Funken war kaum noch zu denken. Da zudem die Parkgebühren auf der Insel mit 2,50 Euro pro Stunde recht hoch waren, entschloss ich mich, den restlichen Tag auf einem nahegelegenen Campingplatz zu verbringen.
Am nächsten Morgen gelangen mir noch einige weitere Verbindungen von der Insel, bevor ich meine Reise in Richtung Liechtenstein fortsetzte.
Auch wenn die Aktivierung aufgrund der schwierigen Bedingungen nicht ganz den erhofften Erfolg brachte, konnten am Ende 75 QSOs mit Stationen aus 15 DXCC-Ländern, alle innerhalb Europas, ins Log eingetragen werden.
Die QSL-Karten sind bereits gedruckt und werden in den nächsten Tagen an alle bestätigten Stationen verschickt. Vielen Dank an alle Funkfreunde, die trotz der schwierigen Bedingungen mit mir im Log stehen konnten!

I.W.I. Activation Lindau Island (Lake Constance) – 13AT/BY011
On the evening of June 1st, my journey to activate Lindau Island on Lake Constance for the Inland Water Islands (I.W.I.) program began. Since parking on the island is very limited and I had already chosen a specific operating location, I spent the first night just outside Lindau. This allowed me to arrive early the next morning and secure the parking spot I wanted.
After enjoying a beer and a small snack, I went to bed early. Before sunrise the next morning, I headed to the island and was lucky enough to get the perfect parking space.
As radio conditions were still very poor in the early morning, I took the opportunity to explore the beautiful island of Lindau by bicycle. After a relaxing breakfast, I returned to my operating position and called CQ for the first time as 13AT/BY011 – Lindau Island.
I remained on the air until around 2:00 p.m. From midday onwards, propagation conditions dropped to almost zero. At the same time, dark clouds rolled in and a severe storm swept across Lake Constance, making further operation almost impossible. Since parking on the island costs €2.50 per hour, I decided to spend the rest of the day at a nearby campsite.
The following morning, I managed to make a few more contacts from the island before continuing my journey to Liechtenstein.
Although the activation did not produce the results I had hoped for due to the difficult propagation conditions and the bad weather, I still logged 75 QSOs with stations in 15 DXCC entities, all within Europe.
The QSL cards have already been printed and will be mailed to all confirmed stations shortly.
